Kitale Sex Worker Found murdered in Lodging

BY MWANAHABARI REPORTER

Residents of Kitale are in shock after a female sex worker was on Sunday, September 12, found dead inside a lodging.

Reports indicated that the woman identified as Mary Gesaracha worked at Line Moja estate – and had checked into Mama Mombasa Lodging with a male client.

Mary’s friends and colleagues told the media that they became suspicious after she failed to pick calls made to her phone, or even open the door when they knocked after she overstayed.

The friends would later inform staff at the lodging who broke into the room and found her naked body lying on the bed facing down with the legs tied together.

Also found at the scene was a used condom, proof that the suspect had sex with the woman before killing her.

The sex worker booked the room

It was then that the police were alerted.

Trans Nzoia County Police Commander Mrs. Jecinta Wesonga confirmed the incident noting that the Mary booked the room on Friday, September 10.

“We are yet to arrest the man she spent Saturday night with. Nevertheless, we have launched a manhunt for him,” said Mrs Wesonga adding that they are yet to establish the killer’s motive.

The man is believed to have made his escape by jumping over the perimeter wall – and took with him Mary’s mobile phone.

Other sources claimed that the suspect had visited a number of locations accompanied by Mary.

Wesonga cautioned sex workers against allowing men to send them cash for booking guest rooms, noting that some men with ill motives use the trick to avoid being traced.

The body was taken to Kitale County Referral Hospital mortuary.
