What started as a harmless daredevil thrill ended in tears after a group of locals descended on four male students who had sneaked into a girls school to chat up girls.
The four students from from Gatamaiyu Boys Secondary School are said to have sneaked into neighbouring Gachoire Girls High school – and this was not the first time.
A guard who was manning the school reportedly raised alarm after he noticed the four young men inside the school – clad in civilian clothes.
Alarmed neighbours responded to the call before rounding up the boys whom they suspected of being thieves.
The boys were harassed and beaten up by the neighbours before escaping, but one of them was not very lucky as locals detained and beat him up some more.
Police called to the scene
He was rescued by police officers from Kagwe police station who were called to the scene.
The student were rushed to Kagwe health centre before being referred to Kiambu hospital.
Speaking about the incident, Lari Sub County police commander Stephen Kirui said that the students had escorted their colleague to see his girlfriend at the school.
It’s a common thing in the area
“When the watchman saw them and questioned them, they ran away. The guard raised the alarm since he did not know who they were. Three escaped and one was caught by the public,” he noted.
Area residents said that there have been several cases of students sneaking in and out of the compound unnoticed.
