Kenyans who have access to messaging service WhatsApp will now be able to use the same platform to conduct financial transactions.
The product is currently being provided by Absa bank to all its customers.
The facility will allow customers to conduct account-to-M-Pesa/Airtel Money transfers, inter-account transactions, bill payments and balance enquiry.
“We reflected on this trend and asked ourselves why we can’t evolve our services to our customers on the platform they use the most,” said Absa Kenya CEO Jeremy Awori on Tuesday.
According to data, 97 per cent of internet users in Kenya are on WhatsApp.
