I am The Father – Speaker Lusaka Says in Ksh25M Child Support Case

Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka has admitted to fathering a child for whom he was dragged to court in a whooping Ksh25 million child support case.

Mr Lusaka through his lawyer said that he was not going to challenge the paternity of the unborn child.

According to Lawyer Danstan Omar who is representing the woman, Lusaka and his client are trying to work out ways and see if they can arrive at an understanding.

Speaker Lusaka is keen to have the matter addressed out of court – without him having to drag his name on the corridors of justice.

The court heard that Lusaka was willing to take care of all medical bills accrued during the pregnancy period.

The court has asked the two parties to continue with negotiations with the case set for mention on July 28.

The woman is seeking Kshs 200,000 monthly upkeep money to help her support the child, or a lamp-sum amount of pay Ksh25 million.

In her affidavit, the woman accused Lusaka of failing to take responsibility for the pregnancy.

“That the respondent despite being a man of means, has refused and ignored to take care of the applicant’s pre-natal clinics necessary to ensure the wellbeing of the unborn child perhaps in the hope of stressing the applicant and causing a miscarriage of their unborn child,” read the court documents.

“Parties have been having a jolly intimate affair punctuated with several instances unprotected carnal knowledge since the year 2018 up until about two months May 2021 when they disagreed strongly after the applicant disclosed that as a consequence of their unprotected sexual encounters, she had conceived a child,” read the court papers.
