The Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has warned school administrators from allowing their facilities to be used to hold unauthorized rallies.
In a press statement released on June 5, 2021, the Ministry of education banned unauthorized activities from being held in school facilities and compounds.
“It has come to the attention of the Ministry of Education that various groups of people are targeting schools as venues for holding unauthorized meetings. By holding the meetings at the school facilities, the groups are exposing learners to the dangers of COVID–19as many of the attendees do not comply with the Ministry of Health guidelines on COVID–19. The Ministry is,therefore, notifying all Kenyans that school compounds and facilities are out of bounds and cannot be used to host unauthorized meetings. Let us all allow our learners to progress with their normal activities without exposing them to dangers of COVID–19.Firm action will be taken against individuals or groups found to be flouting this ban,: noted Magoha in the statement.
Meanwhile, all learners are at home for the midterm break which will end next week on Monday, June 7, 2021.
