Kenya gospel musician Justina Syokau has been forced to take up manual jobs at a construction site to survive tough economic times.
The gospel musician who is famous for her hit song ‘Twenty Twenty’ posted a picture of herself actively working at a construction site.
This comes just months after Justina came out in public to seek financial assistance from fans and well-wishers after running broke.
Justina said she spent a lot of her money on treatment after she suffered a chronic skin infection at the start of 2021.
She struggled with rent and had a Ksh2 million hospital bill she needed to clear.
But now the vagaries of life have forced Justina to venture into construction as a side hustle, which is commonly referred to a mjengo – which is mostly associated with men given its demanding nature.
“God has remembered me today. I got a gig to renovate a building. Glory to God. Hustle is real,” she revealed on Facebook.
“Out of these frustrations I was privileged to get someone who gave me a project to give back to the community,” she explained. She added that she has been privileged to do another construction project for someone based in America which she completed successfully.
“Yes I am getting back to my normal status financially. I pray I get more construction or related jobs,” she concluded.
