Husband Arrested After Chopping Off Wife’s Neck and Legs

Grief has engulfed a village in Elgeyo Marakwet county after a 37-year-old man killed his wife.

The suspect is said to have chopped off the neck and legs of his 23-year-old wife in an incident that occurred at Tambul village, in Keiyo South Sub County on Thursday night, May 20.

According to neighbours, the man and his wife had been embroiled in bitter exchange of words inside their house.

“The man has been threatening his wife that he will kill her one day over frequent domestic feud and true to his word, he butchered her,” said Jane Cheptoo.

Confirming the incident, OCPD Charles Laboso said they are holding the suspect at the Kaptagat police station in connection with the brutal murder of his wife.

“We are holding the suspect in police custody to help us with investigations into the brutal killing of his wife,” Laboso said when contacted for comment by Mwanahabari.co.ke over the incident.

He said the suspect was seized by the police in his hideout after committing the heinous act following a tip off from members of the public who were baying for his blood.

The police chief said they will take the suspect to court in Eldoret to face murder charge once the officers attached to directorate of criminal investigations complete their probe into the matter.

The body of the deceased, Laboso said, has been transported to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary in Eldoret for preservation by the scene of crime officers.

Labosos warned feuding couples against taking the law into their hands.

He decried rising cases of domestic violence in the area that has led to a number of murders, and asked couples to resolve their family issues through dialogue.
