Makrine Achieng
The body of Makrine Achieng, a third year Bachelor of Education student was found near her Kefinco/Juakali estate residence on June 2, 2021.
The young woman was reportedly stabbed in the head and raped before being killed. Her half-naked body was discovered on the morning of June 2, a few metres away from her house. According to the police, there were no visible signs of struggle in her room. Her half-naked body was found on June 2, next to her house.
A suspect was arrested in connection with the murder after he was found with Makrine’s mobile phone.
Sharon Otieno
The gruesome murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno shocked the country. Her mutilated body dumped in Kodera Forest, Homa Bay County in September 2018. Sharon was pregnant when she was murdered. A DNA test has since confirmed that Migori governor Okoth Obado was the father of the unborn child. Governor Obado and his co-accused Casper Obiero and Michael Juma Oyamo are the main suspects in the murder. The matter is in court.
Ivy Wangechi – Moi University student
Moi University student, Ivy Wangechi, was hacked to death by her estranged lover. The suspect, Naftali Kinuthia, drove all the way from Nairobi to Eldoret to kill the medical student.
Kinuthia said he took the action out of frustrations after Wangechi refused his love. Naftali was beaten to a pulp by an angry mob, and is currently in remand as the court case continues.
Christine Ambani – Kiriri Women’s University
Christine Ambani’s was kidnapped and killed on the same day by unknown people. The killers kept asking for money days after killing her – pretending that they had her alive.
According to a friend, Christine was to meet her ex-boyfriend that Monday. That’s the day the 23-year-old girl went missing and was never seen alive again. Her body was found at a parking lot in Githurai on Tuesday, July 13.
The decomposing body of the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) was found in her rental house in Homa Bay town.
Emily Chepkemboi’s body which was found lying on the bed. It is suspected that the first-year student of clinical medicine was murdered inside her house on Friday night before her body was discovered on Sunday afternoon. Reports indicate that she was raped before being killed.
The assailant locked the door and left the compound without being noticed. Chepkemboi’s body had stab wounds on the head, neck and back. Her alleged boyfriend is in custody.

Celestine Muthengei – Mt Kenya University (MKU)
Celestine Muthengei, a second-year-student at Mt Kenya University (MKU) was stabbed and killed on June 14 by her alleged boyfriend.
Muthengi who was studying Community Development was stabbed severally on various parts of her body before the suspect disappeared. The man is said to have walked into the hostel and found Celestine with her two roommates, before he started stabbing the girlfriend repeatedly.
Emily Jelimo Ng’etich – Maasai Mara University
A 22 year-old third year female student was found dead at her rented room near the institution. According to the police, Emily Jelimo Ng’etich may have been killed as a result of a love-triangle.
Neighbours suspected something was wrong when a foul smell engulfed the area.
Some students claimed the deceased had informed them that his ex-boyfriend from Moi University was to visit her that evening.
Her body was found in her room the following day. The incident sparked outrage among the students.

Ann Kanario – Kenya Methodist University
Ann Kanario of Kenya Methodist University (KEMU) was found dead inside her rented house a few meters from KEMU main campus in Meru. Her decomposing body was found alongside that of her boyfriend, Chuka University student Obed Nyaga Njagi.
Unrequited love could be one of the possible reasons why Nyaga killed Ann before hanging himself in the bathroom.
Ann’s naked body was found lying in a pool of blood, with a stab wound on her thigh. Her neck had scratches indicating she was strangled. Kanario had just completed her undergraduate studies in Business Administration and was on her last semester.
The body of a 20-year-old University of Nairobi student was found hanging by the neck in the bedroom in what villagers suspect was a suicide.Narok South Deputy County Commissioner Felix Kisalu said the body of Moipen Sadera was found in her bedroom in her parent’s house.
Sadera’s body was taken to Longisa Referral Hospital mortuary.
Pregnant student jumps from 4th Floor – Chuka University
A student at Chuka University took her own life when she jumped from the seventh floor of the institution’s building, on Sunday evening, June 27.
Said building was said to be the university’s Science Complex in Tharaka Nithi County. The lady was reported to have jumped to her death after an altercation with her boyfriend.
Eyewitnesses claimed that the girl who was reportedly expectant accused the schoolmate of infidelity.
Emergency service providers who were called to the scene rushed her to a nearby hospital after administering first aid.
